🎶 Instrumental Music Program Signup
Presented by Tolbert Music at St. William of York
Tolbert Music is proud to partner with St. William of York to offer an engaging and enriching Symphonic Orchestra Program.
This elective is open to all students in grades 2 and up. Your instructor will meet with students once per week, during school hours, for a 45-minute session. Students will be grouped by skill level and may advance into more experienced ensembles as they progress.
🎺 Instruments Offered:
Students may choose to study any of the following standard band or orchestral instruments:
Woodwinds: Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone
Brass: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium
Percussion: Practice Pad and Standard Percussion Instruments
Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass
We’ve created a custom method book that allows students of all instruments to learn together in a shared classroom setting. Additional repertoire will be selected based on student progress.
💰 Program Commitments
Cost:
$50/month (10-month cycle) — or
$450 full-year prepaid discount (save $50)
You will receive a payment link upon signup. We use a 10-month billing cycle, accounting for setup and takedown time in August and June. While some months may include fewer sessions due to holidays, the pricing reflects a full academic year of instruction.
Attendance & Makeups:
If more than 3 lessons are missed due to cancellations on our part, we will offer makeup sessions.
📅 Full-Year Commitment
Learning an instrument takes time, consistency, and dedication. A full-year enrollment ensures the best experience for both students and teachers. If you must withdraw, please contact us first — we’d love the opportunity to resolve any issues before processing disenrollment.
🎻 Instruments & Rentals
Students are responsible for providing their own instruments. We highly recommend using our rental partnership with Music & Arts, which offers:
High-quality, rent-to-own instruments
Rates between $25–$45/month
Full equity toward ownership
Excellent insurance and repair coverage
⚠️ Please avoid purchasing low-cost instruments online (e.g., Amazon). These are often unplayable and not worth repairing. If you already own an instrument, you're welcome to use it as long as it is in good working condition.
🎼 Additional Costs
Students may need to purchase small accessories such as reeds or sheet music. These are generally inexpensive. We recommend purchasing the “Instrument Care Kit” offered by music stores — it includes essential maintenance tools and is well worth the investment.
📚 Academic Responsibility
Since students will be pulled from class during the school day, they are expected to make up any missed schoolwork.
🥁 Practice Expectations
These instruments are challenging but rewarding! Regular practice is key to student growth and enjoyment.
We recommend daily practice, even in small amounts. You’ll receive practice updates and suggestions throughout the year to help support your student’s progress.
