General Music Program

Mr. Darrell Payne is the General Music Program Director at St. Patrick, where he leads a fun and engaging general music program designed to build foundational skills through singing, rhythm games, and hands-on exposure to instruments. His classes help students develop pitch and rhythm awareness in a playful, supportive environment:

I am a singer, music educator, director, composer, and a student of theology.

I was born in New York and raised in Queens. I went to LaGuardia high school of music and art, and studied at the new school university for jazz and contemporary music.

I have two decades of vocal coaching and choir directing, and five years of experience teaching piano.

I am currently enrolled at Bethel Bible Institute, pursuing a bachelors in theology.

I major in voice, minor in piano, and I’m studying bass guitar.

There are not many things that I am more passionate about than teaching!

Private Lessons

Mr. Payne will be staying after school to teach private lessons. These are the very best way for students to get ahead in music! All students are eligible to sign up for this and can choose any instrument including a supplemental lesson for the Symphonic instrument, piano, voice, and guitar.
